Montessori Education
Montessori education is an approach to teaching and learning that was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 20th century. It is based on the philosophy that children are naturally curious, capable, and eager to learn. Montessori classrooms are carefully prepared environments where children are encouraged to explore, discover, and learn at their own pace.
Montessori classrooms are designed to be child-centered and hands-on. They are filled with specially designed materials that are designed to appeal to children’s natural interests and tendencies. These materials are carefully chosen to be self-correcting, meaning that children can learn independently by making mistakes and figuring things out on their own.
In a Montessori classroom, teachers serve as guides and facilitators rather than lecturers. They observe the children closely and provide individualized support and encouragement as needed. Teachers also help to create a peaceful and respectful atmosphere where children can work and learn together harmoniously.
